{"id":1229,"date":"2019-05-14T03:55:12","date_gmt":"2019-05-14T03:55:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.confer.nz\/periop2019\/?p=1229"},"modified":"2019-05-14T03:55:50","modified_gmt":"2019-05-14T03:55:50","slug":"jacque-roberts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.confer.nz\/periop2019\/speakers\/jacque-roberts\/","title":{"rendered":"Jacque Roberts"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Biography<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jacque Roberts Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) Registered Nurse First Surgical Assistant (RNFSA) for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery at Waikato Hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I began training for RNFSA in 2010,\nafter working in surgical wards and PACU for several years.&nbsp; I completed my post graduate diploma in Advanced\nNursing at Auckland University in 2012.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a RNFSA at Waikato hospital I\nassist with all types of cardio-thoracic surgery and harvest conduit for\ncoronary artery bypass surgery.&nbsp; I work\nwithin the entire perioperative continuum, with visiting pre-surgical patients\nfor conduit choice and pre-operative education and review my surgical wounds on\nthe ward post-surgery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is a very busy and fulfilling role within the DHB, with cardiac surgery completing over 600 cases per year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Presentation Topic<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>PEARS Procedure<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2016, Mr Nick Odom and Mr Adam El\nGamel at Waikato Hospital began this innovative procedure to provide external\nsupport to an enlarged aortic root using a customized flexible mesh: \u2018personalized\nexternal aortic root support\u2019 (PEARS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My presentation will outline what\nand how the PEARS procedure works, the benefits for patients and considerations\nfor theatre nurses and RNFSAs assisting in theatre.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Biography Jacque Roberts Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) Registered Nurse First Surgical Assistant (RNFSA) for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery at Waikato Hospital.
