Biography

As a new grad nurse in 1990 I went straight into perioperative nursing. I worked as a RN in Operating Theatres in Wellington, London and HongKong until 2000. Returning to Wellington in 2000, in the role of Theatre Orthopaedic Team Leader at CCDHB for 7 years.

After a  5 year stint in the Nelson theatres I was ask to apply for  my current position as a Clinical Support Rep for ZimmerBiomet. I have always had an interest in orthopaedics’, teaching and clinical improvement processes.

As I travel to many operating theatre suits throughout NZ, I witness the frustrations of both nurses and surgeons in the organisation of revision joint surgery. This session will cover the key elements in planning for revision joints, what needs to be communicated to you as the planner for revision cases.

I will provide a planning chart where essential information can be recorded, in the hope that you can encourage your hospitals to use it, lending to “ less surprises“ and “well planned” revision cases.
