Biography

I’m Nelson born & bred & after spending three years on my OE in my early twenties I returned home to Nelson & completed my Nursing Degree at NMIT. After graduation I moved to Wellington & worked in cardiothoracics for my NeTP year, this was a huge learning curve but a fabulous start to my career. PACU nursing has always been my area of interest so after cardiothoracics I moved to PACU servicing 15 theatres & a wide range of specialities & complexities. I was fortunate to obtain my current position in PACU at Nelson Hospital after shifting back from Wellington where I have been since 2010. I still thoroughly enjoy PACU nursing & caring for patients immediately post op. We utilise strong assessment & critical thinking skills, no day is ever the same & there are lots of challenges & triumphs. You need a good team & great communication in PACU to assist the safe transition of patients through our department. I continue to learn every day & am lucky to work with an awesome bunch of nurses.
