John Bartholdi<\/strong> is a Professor in the School of Industrial and Systems\u00a0Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he holds the\u00a0Manhattan Associates\/Dabbiere Chair.<\/p>\n

He also serves as Co-Executive\u00a0Director of the Georgia Tech Logistics Innovation and Research Center in\u00a0Panama. Bartholdi\u2019s research centers on problems of warehousing and\u00a0distribution; but he also publishes on wider-ranging interests, including\u00a0public transit, voting, geography, computer science, and biology.<\/p>\n

He is co-author of the book Warehouse & Distribution Science<\/em> and he is a founder\u00a0of the Wine Supply Chain Council. Bartholdi graduated in 1968 with a
\ndegree in mathematics from the University of Florida (Woodrow Wilson\u00a0Fellow, Phi Beta Kappa, High Honors) and then served two deployments
\nduring the Viet Nam War in Beach Jumper Unit One of Naval Special\u00a0Warfare.<\/p>\n

He returned to complete a Ph.D. in Operations Research, also at\u00a0the University of Florida. In addition to his current position, he has served\u00a0on the faculties of the University of Michigan, the Shanghai University for\u00a0Science and Technology, and the National University of Singapore.<\/p>\n

He was\u00a0named a Presidential Young Investigator by the National Science\u00a0Foundation, 1984\u20131989; and his work has also been supported by, among\u00a0others, the Defense Logistics Agency, the Office of Naval Research, the Air\u00a0Force Office of Scientific Research, IBM, Pratt & Whitney, Ford Motor\u00a0Company, Genuine Parts Co., The Home Depot, Manhattan Associates, and\u00a0RPS.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
